For years in a row, single women have been the second largest group of home buyers next to married couples. Last year, single females made up 18% of surveyed home buyers. Though these statistics do not come as such a surprise any longer, recent data by Zillow made us want to revisit the topic. According to their analysis of US Census Bureau data on the wage gap between men and women, it takes the average single female more time to save for a down payment in most cities than single males. The reason being? Men, on average, make more money.
Contrary to Zillow’s analysis, the National Association of Realtors released the 2017 Recent Home Buyer and Seller Profiles, and single females DOUBLED single men in home purchases last year, and they are purchasing homes valued almost $10k higher!
Clearly, less wages doesn’t stop these boss ladies from accomplishing the American Dream on their own!
