As president of the CHLA, I am thankful for the experience and proud of the outcome in the recent events before the United States Senate Banking Committee.  As we are frequently reminded, bipartisanship does not often happen these days.  Yet, we just had significant interest from the banking committee including Senator Crapo (R-Idaho) and Senator Warren (D-MA) to work together and help small community lenders!  As Senator Brown (D-Ohio) said best:

“Small lenders are often the only lenders willing to go the extra mile to underwrite mortgages in areas too often left behind by Washington and Wall Street.”

And now the Senate Banking Committee is taking its first steps by proposing a new formulation for the GSEsFannie Mae and Freddie Mac.  These are the early steps to help ensure equality to lenders of all sizes.  Today, I am encouraged for the future of small lenders like Platinum Home Mortgage!

It was an honorable experience testifying in front of the Senate Banking Committee last week.  Watch this 89 second video as we get them intrigued on our objectives, but we were also able to sneak a good chuckle out of them too!

Exciting things are ahead!  Click here to read my full testimony.
